1970-1980

Ribbon Technology Corporation was established in Columbus, Ohio in 1971 by local entrepreneur, Lloyd Hackman. The business acquired a license from Batelle Institute to produce metallic fibres utilising a process called Rapid Solidification Technology (RST). Historically, steel fibres were manufactured predominantly through the lengthy and inefficient process of wire-drawing then chopping the wire to size or by slitting the end of sheets of steel.

Ribbon Technology Corporation went on to work on numerous Research and Development projects, including several jointly funded by NASA to produce Titanium Ribbons.
